Block Unveils Dessa, a Voice AI That Talks and Listens at the Same Time

Block, the company led by Jack Dorsey, has unveiled Dessa, a full-duplex speech model — meaning it can talk and listen at the same time, like a real conversation instead of taking turns.

Dessa runs locally on consumer hardware. It isn't publicly available yet: Block has instead put out a call for safety researchers to test the model first.
